Certified Yoga Teacher
NETA-Certified Yoga Teachers are fitness professionals who promote physical and mental health. They accomplish this by developing and instructing safe and effective classes incorporating physical postures, breathing practices, and mindfulness. This practice takes place in the context of professional and conscientious conduct, taking into consideration the manner in which the teacher represents himself or herself.
To earn NETA’s Yoga Teacher Certification, students must complete the full 200 hours of the program, comprised of five 2-day certification workshops (100 hours total), five 1-day certification workshops (50 hours total), a culminating 3-day Advanced Certification for Yoga Teachers (30 hours), and an independent home study (20 hours). The workshops included in NETA’s 200-Hour Teacher Training Program include: Yoga Foundations, Fitness Yoga, Yoga Strong, Senior Yoga, Intermediate Yoga, Kids Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yoga for Special Populations, Becoming a Yoga Professional, and Advanced Yoga. Upon completion of the full 200 hours, students are eligible to register with the Yoga Alliance.
NETA’s Yoga Teacher Certification is valid for two years from the date of completion of the culminating Advanced Certification for Yoga Teachers. Teachers must earn a minimum of twenty continuing education credits (CECs) to be eligible for recertification.
NETA’s 200-Hour Teacher Training Program is approved by the Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga School (RYS® 200), demonstrating compliance with the Yoga Alliance curriculum development and delivery standards. The Yoga Alliance is the largest nonprofit association representing the yoga community, fostering the high-quality, safe, accessible, and equitable teaching of yoga. In order to obtain the Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT® 200) designation, certificants must register with the Yoga Alliance and maintain their recertification requirements.
